The AK-12 is a Russian 7.62x39mm military weapon found in Apocalypse Rising.
Overview[]
The AK-12 is a rare assault rifle that can be found in Apocalypse Rising. It is capable of packing a powerful punch when used at medium to far range. It is arguably the best gun that uses the 7.62 x 39mm cartridge, available in-game, due to it's low recoil when compared to other weapons using the same round. It fires the 7.62 x 39mm round and shares the same ammo with the AK-47, AKM, RPK, OTS-14 and the AK-104. The AK-12 can take 30, 40, or 75 round mags. Unlike most other AK variants, the AK-12 is full black in color, like the AK-104. Also unlike most AK gun rifle series it can sport a underbarrel attachment along with a suppressor and oculR sight. The AK-12 has two firing modes which are Full auto and Semi auto. The AK-12 packs more firepower than the STANAG mag weapons but at the cost of reduced ammo capacity (75 round drum mag vs. 100 round drum mag/box) and rarer ammo. Along with the increased firepower, the AK-12 has higher recoil than other weapons. It also looks similar to the 5.56 assault rifles in color and shape.
History[]
The AK-12 was designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov and Vladimir Zlobin in 2010. The rifle originates from Russia and passed state tests which allowed it to finally be adopted by the Russian Army along with its competitor the A-545 (modernized AEK-971). It is currently made by the Kalashnikov Concern. It is replacing the AK-74M in the Russian Ground Forces.

- The AK-12 has much better ADS than the AK-104, but less hipfire accuracy.
- It is one of the few weapons to accept all kinds of cartridges in the real world, including the 5.45x39mm, the 7.62x51mm, the 9x39mm WP, the 5.56x45mm, and oddly, the 12 gauge. But they use different barrels, of course.
